Guide · First steps
Create, select, navigate, and save.
This first pass establishes the document and canvas habits used by every later tool.
1. Set the document before drawing.
Open document properties and name the work. Choose the unit, width, height, margins, and main ink colour that match the intended output.
Relative units use the base font size shown in the same panel. The visible viewBox size reflects document margins, so verify it before placing detailed artwork.
A future annotated screenshot will identify size, unit, margins, base font size, and main ink colour.
2. Draw a primitive and select it.
Choose rectangle, ellipse, a prepared polygon, or the pen tool. Drag on the canvas for direct construction, or use the shape panel when exact dimensions matter.
Return to the selection tool to move, resize, or rotate the drawing. The rotation centre can be moved when the object needs to orbit around a custom pivot.
- Selection supports one or several drawings
- Resize from selection bounds
- Move the pivot before rotating around a custom point
A short future demonstration will show shape creation, selection bounds, and the rotation pivot.
3. Navigate without changing the document.
Pan and zoom alter only the viewport. Reset, fit, and centre controls help recover the document when it moves outside the visible area.
The optional grid and snapping controls support measured layouts. The footer reports cursor coordinates, zoom, and measured distances.
A future visual will compare document coordinates with viewport pan and zoom.
4. Preserve the editable source.
Download SVG when you need the delivery asset. Save SVG-JSON when you need a project file that preserves the editor document model.
Automatic drafts provide browser-local recovery, but they are not a replacement for a portable project file.
